Hi Chuck,
Each year at Burning Man, there are people who set up internet access. Not
sure what their bandwidth is, but they apparently also provide wireless AP
access. I didn't turn on my laptop when I was there, so this is second-hand
information. For all I know, it may have been a LAN only. So, find these guys
and see if their bandwidth is sufficient, and if they're willing to set up a
special time for your uplink. If you have a budget to increase their bandwidth
over what they're already setting up, maybe they would find the arrangement
mutually beneficial. www.burningman.com might be a good place to start, or
perhaps any of the various local BM camps knows who does the internet there.
I'll ask around this weekend and report if I find any leads.

I want to get about 500kb/s uplink BW from the middle of the
desert in Nevada, temporary installation. What are my options?
If anyone cares, it's for a good social purpose -- related to
closure on the Capitol Hill killings last March. We're doing
a live digital video feed from a fire in the desert Sept. 3.
