SeattleWireless Field Day is scheduled for October 28th, 2006!

Please save the date and mark your calendars for a fun day of
wireless, three premiere Seattle park locations, and delicious food!
We will be at Alki, Magnolia, and Gas Works from 10am to 2pm.

All the parks will be connected via wireless links, and, of course,
internet backhaul will be provided. Electrical power will be
provided by small, portable generators. You are also welcome to bring
your own power and wireless gear too.

Will October 28th be sunny, cloudy, rainy? Who cares! Each field day
location will feature tents and other creature comforts to keep us
safe from the elements.

And while 2003 Field Day was great, we plan on doing a few new things:

- Each site will be VoIP enabled, with at least one real working
telephone, and free long distance provided by the SeattleWirelessVoIP
server.

- Each site will feature at least one artistic interactive item
(Tele-Art) or device that can be controlled over the network from
other Field Day sites.

Interested in helping out for this event? While many have offered to
lend us items, large and small, we still need quite a few things to
make this happen and be a successful field day. Please contact Casey
Halverson (casey at seattlewireless.net) offline if you have anything you
would like to help out with. Don't worry, you will get your stuff
back :) Dont have anything, but still want to help, setup times are
at 8am, and tear down is planned for 3pm. We can use plenty of help.

Interested in an interactive art project or tele-robotic project?
Here is your chance to shine. Casey Halverson has a few starting
points, such as inexpensive TTL/Servo to TCP/IP hardware, so the
development cycle should be pretty quick if you start now. Contact
Casey Halverson (casey at seattlewireless.net) if you would like to
contribute artistically to Field Day.

Hope to see you there!
