Nothing is free...

I'm happy to pay my $45 to Comcast every month.  Verizon's FIOS is pushing
them and the speeds just keep climbing.  A couple days ago I updated an
Ubuntu box after a year of neglect.  127 megabytes downloaded at an
effective rate of 8 megabytes per second.  That's the data rate -- after
all the overhead.  Pretty incredible performance.   Wasn't too long ago
that 802.11B was fast enough to feed any home Internet access -- not it
can't keep up.

It's nice to have Clearwire and cell technologes as wildcards keeping the
big boys on their toes.

So I ignore a few items on the TOS but don't abuse the system.  I send in
my monthly contribution.  I know "the man" is watching and use appropriate
technology as necessary.  The system is working...

Hopefully this new year I (we?) will have more resources to put into a
alternate (Amateur/Part15) network.   Never enough time...
