My mom who lives in downtown Duluth, MN has Clearwire using NNs equipment
and has experienced the aiming/location problem. They provided a remote
(802.11g?) device so that the CPE could be placed near the window while the
PC/laptop is elsewhere.
MOT said that they haven't decided what to do with NextNet equipment after
the acquisition clears the usual hurdles. They have agreed to keep all NNs
employees but not necessarily keep the products for new sales to new
customers. They will probably drop them and shift to WiMAX only for future
sales. MOT has to support current customers including Clearwire and Telmex.
Wateen, Pakistan is a big WiMAX deployment.. 600 base stations to start. It
will officially go online in January 2007. MOT is working on their own
CPE/SUs and handheld PDA type devices. Wateen is majority owned by a royal
Arab family... billions$
