802.11a card with external adapter?

Are there any wifi cards with internal antennas? That is, you want 
nothing sticking out the end of the cardbus slot? It seems to me the 
performance would be hard to guarantee given there is no control over 
what the antenna would be radiating through.

The notebooks with internal wifi have built-in antennas. I've seen tape 
on patch antennas that you could put on the back of your notebook if 
your intent is to have a more rugged setup.
