The SIX grew out of the NIX (Northwest Internet Exchange) which with the
help of ELI provided some basic peering and interconnect amongst a few early
NW ISPs.  I think the time was around 1995.  The Frame T-1 was just a tad
small, but the seed had been planted.  The SIX has done an excellent job of
keeping the bits flowing.
