Thanks for the tip, Ken. Looks like I'll be trying something analogous. 
I've purchased some Western Telematic Inc, (www.wti.com) Remote Power 
Boot devices (RPB-115) on Ebay *http://tinyurl.com/2r48dz
*for about $43 each including shipping and will try using a PHP script 
based on one offered by a chap on the Portland Personal Telco list.
