Updating blosxom stories.

Does anyone know how to update a blosxom entry without changing the date the entry was originally entered? I’m tired from OSCON and dont want to google. Richard asked me the other day about this, and I was too busy to google then. Does the lazyweb really work?

OSCON Update. updated

I’m sitting in a sports bar.. Free drinks are being provided by dyndns. We finally got a power strip, and now jfarr, Rob, Ken, Michael and I are geeking out with Ken’s new copy of AirMagnet, and a cool little usb powered wireless bridge.

Robert Kaye just dropped by to say hi. We had a pretty good converstation earlier about MusicBrainz, his time at Xing, SLO and community wireless networking. His hair says FSCK SCO today.

On another note, Sam Churchill spelled my name wrong in his dailywireless writeup (it’s fixed now, thanks sam!). He did write up some interesting bits on helix, and even mentioned 16photos.

Matt Mankins, who we’ve been hanging out with for the past couple of days just passed me the URL to the Location Linked Information page which describes his project to merge the virtual and the physical world. Damn cool stuff.

Did I mention I was sitting in a sports bar?

Alpaca Party

The stonehenge guys ran busses to Bar71 every 15 minutes (from 8-midnight) for a night of free well (bottom of the well) liquor. They had live Alpacas in a side room, danceable music, and plenty of hired help. I got no pictures as I was tossing back double kamikazes and having a heated discussion with the PTP guys about the future of community wireless.

OSCON Update.

So, we found something of a mezzanine. The speakers registration and lounge on R level has some decent tables for geeking.

The exhibition floor is pretty busy, lot of people running around asking questions. obligitory booth babes, drawings for prizes, free microsoft lunch (nearly all bread, no actual filling) and even a rocket.

I’m taking pictures and updating the oscon2003 gallery as often as possible. For near real-time updates (not a lot of coverage on the exhibition floor), check 16photos

Friend of a Friend (FOAF)

My site is now FOAF enabled. Take a look at the FOAF links over in the left nav. bar to go to my FOAF Explorer page or see my foaf.rdf.

On first glance, this seems a lot like a complicated friendster, but it’s distributed, open, and can be extended to do a lot more than you might think. Take a look at this WirelessOntology to get a peek at how it might fit into wireless applications.

If you want to give your site it’s own foaf, check out the FOAF-A-MATIC.

If you’ve already got a FOAF (and you know me) drop a comment with the URL and I’ll add you to mine.

Unofficial Wiki for OSCON 2003?

The Semi-Un-Official Wiki for OSCON is kind of amusing. Tim has endorsed it, so I guess that adds the “Semi-”, but now it’s listed on the Community Software page on the O’Reilly site. Doesn’t that make it official?

Fireworks

Fireworks in Seattle are cool. Lake Union’s show was awesome to watch from the roof. I think the coolest part though, is at the end when you can hear the entire city honk, clap and scream.

I took a bunch of blurry pictures, one good one, and even a video with my canon s45.

Peter Yorke on the radio.

Peter Yorke talks about SeattleWireless, NoCatAuth, SnowNet, and city participation on kenradio.com. Listen to it in RealPlayer or WindowsMedia.
