HackNight in 2004

Next week’s HackNight will be held at the Space Boat TV office, located at 1100 Republican Street in South Lake Union. Space Boat is in the office section of the Consolidated Works (http://conworks.org/) building. map

Spaceboat produces live visual environments for it’s clients and has hosted a weekly event called Meetspace, an improv audio and video jam at Consolidated Works.

Rob and I went down to the site to hang out with Pedro, check out the facilities and take some pictures from the roof. There is plenty of power and flat surfaces, and we should be able to hold small-medium nights in the Space Boat offices without a problem.

Our first task on Tuesday will be to set up the network and get all of the components to build the node working. Should be pretty exciting.

Snow.

It’s snowing outside.

  • Matthew Wilson brought his SqueezeBox and promises that we can take it apart next week.
  • Pedro from Consolidated Works pointed us at MAX/MSP for audio/video mixing

  • NodeOne Changes.

The antennas have been switched from the tripod mount to a chimney mount to add stability and height. An additional AP has been added to the south tower.

    No more C4.

Last night was the 4th night of purging the old meeting space. In addition to throwing out hundreds of dead computer carcases, we moved 6 couches, 1 church organ, 29 CRTs, 1 27 inch TV, a ping pong table and a pool table.

    Final screening.

I’m heading down to The Drinkmore for the final showing of Uncovered: The Whole Truth about the Iraq War (it starts at 6pm). Last week there were about 35 people at the 9:00 showing. If you missed it last week, come on down and check it out.
