HackNight Details

teletubby hill

Last night’s hacknight started out on Teletubby Hill then moved over to Vivace for coffee, cakes and beers. Beware the 6.9% alcohol by volume IPA. My task for the evening was deleting a weeks worth of spam and going through Hawaii pictures.

    Hey Matt,

“Evil Andrew” here. I heard you guys talking about Fon at the last meeting and didn’t entirely get the scoop on that. Then I came across this article - http://www.hackaday.com/entry/1234000903073775/

I wanted to chat about what Fon is all about and how I can grab another WRT54G. I’ve got one now and wanted to nab another so I can - and pardon my spazz on this - use the bridging between routers to hook up my servers in the garage without having to drill holes and route cable.

Anywho… drop me an emial if it’s handy.

    See you Wednesday.

Fon is just a better funded Joltage, recent history, but history that will soon repeat itself IMO.

Get your subsidized toys while you can.

Speaking of bad wifi business plans, Prismiq just closed out the last of their inventory, expect it to show up on overstock and ebay any time now.

So, I just order one for 5 bucks then? I’m trying to find the gotcha and the loophole.

Well, I ordered one a while back when they were $15, but it has never made it out of it’s box and is sitting on top of the WRT pile on my shelf. I’ve heard they make you register within some set period of time and if you don’t charge you the unsubsidized price, but I can’t really figure out how they would do that since I paid with Paypal.

Rob suggested making a heartbeat script, and it looks like someone on the hackaday site did, but I dont think it’s necessary unless you want to *grow* their subscriber/install base.

That might be a funny experiment in itself.

Ah, if it’s just gathering dust I’ll offer to buy it off you. =)

Naa, I’ve got a collection going. I have one with metal shielding, Mini PCI and Pigtails, one with surface mount connectors, one with radios on board, etc.

It’s sort of like Pokemon, but less colorful.

I use Metrix Kits for anything I actually care about.

Your pictures are very, very polished. I’m going to ask you about your camera next time I see you. (This is ‘Good Andrew’s’ girl).
