Sadly, the bricks we have are also in endless “Decompressing the code” loops.

It is very important that you downgrade (and upgrade) one revision at a time.

Starting with 42c, your next step is 33s, then 33, then v239. reset to defaults, and you should see the text in the left(?) corner go from 630 to 640. Then, upgrade, a revision at a time.

If I ever find out how to de-brick an arlan, I’ll put the info up, but as far as I know at this time, there is no way to do it. It’s a good thing they’re cheap.

I attempted your arlan 630 to 640 bridge conversion.

Started out with the down grade from 4.2a (which my 630 came with} using 630v232a.img using console.

The img appeared to load ok, then I got a “decompressing the code” and reboot that is in a loop like you guys mentioned in your article.

Then your article mentions “we tried upgrading and successfully brought it up to the latest firmware”

I cannot get my arlan 630 out of the reboot loop.
Either this is the “at your own risk” disclaimer or you guys know how to (using some kind of command that I do not know of) to get the 630 to take the next firmware (arlan239.img) in the upgrade sequence mentioned in the article.

Am I out of luck?
