FreeNetworks Conference Conference Call.

The conference is being postponed due to lack of registrations. We didn’t have enough attendees for the two tracks that we had planned, and our backer’s costs were not being covered. The conclusion that we came to was that it would be a mistake to continue with the June date as the value of the conference was not being met.

We will have a conference, but while we figure out the details of the new date and time, we will be refunding all registration fees.

The conference will NOT be held in Las Vegas

 • A survey will be sent out for date and location. My vote is for Seattle.
 • Likely dates are November, December, or January as we need some time to regroup and promote.

Price will be dropped to $99.00

Live blogging of FNCON

This is pretty neat, I was checking the inbound links to fncon on technorati.com, expecting to find some blogger commentary about the upcoming conference when I stumbled on http://fncon03.blogspot.com, which is a site put up by Charlie(?) in anticipation of the conference. Charlie is going to be running around with a Tablet PC, a digital camera, and an MP3 recorder blogging everything you say. Excellent

I just got off the FreeNetworks conference call. There are still some things to tie up, and papers to review, but it looks like this conference is going to be one hell of a good time.

If you haven’t submitted your paper, you need to do so NOW. We’ve got a lot of stuff planned, from heavy technical sessions to overview and status talks. Activities are getting pulled together, and they range from the straight social to the hardcore technical.

As far as pricing and registration goes, The Alexis Park has agreed on a new reduced room rate of $89.00 a night, and we’re dropping the conference rate to $250.00 for the three days. We’ve also gotten the registration company details all worked out, and it will be live as soon as we wade through the papers and confirm on talks.

I know I’ve said it before, but if you are interested in wireless, you cannot miss this event.

Well, it looks like the FreeNetworks Conference site is starting to come together. It’s been really flaky since we’re all really busy with our own projects and work. Registration is close to done, and the schedule will be finalized after the CFP deadline. It should be a blast.
