Cheesesteaks, Beer, Smokes

In my never-ending search to find a replacement for kozmo.com, I came across Restaurants To Go. It’s a restaurant delivery service that also provides some convenience store shopping.

From what I can tell (through whois), they used to be Culinary Couriers, a company that I had used before, but always seemed a little expensive and never had anything that great.

Last night, however, things worked out really well. With just a little time on the website, we had an order for Pepper Cheese Steak sandwiches (and cheese fries) from Philly’s Best, A six pack of redhook, cigarettes, and even a half gallon of milk for our morning coffee.

The site told us that it would take a little over an hour for our order, but in 45 minutes there was a knock at the door. The beer was cold and the sandwiches were piping hot.

As with all post-kozmo finds, there was a minimum order per stop, an overall delivery charge and a slight markup on all items. Oh well, sometimes you have to pay to be this lazy.

DVD Delivery!

Well, it’s not kozmo, but MercuryDVD delivers movies to people in Seattle in about an hour. They have a per-rental and a netflix style deal(2 movies rotating). To return the movies, you drop the pre-paid envelope in a mailbox. Hopefully everyone will use them and they’ll start branching into Beer, Cigarettes and Ice Cream.
